May Event:  Catholic Watchmen Panel on Living the Seven Disciplines

Join us for a panel discussion featuring Catholic men from the area who will be sharing how they are living the Catholic Watchmen Seven Disciplines.  There will be Confession, Adoration, social time with food and beverages provide.

Debrief:  About 40 men attended our February event to watch a video by Bishop Cozzens:  who are you?  What is your Catholic identity nad where do you seek it out?  Is it rooted in your relationship with God?

January Focus on Confession

Jim Ostremba holds a Master of Divinity from St. John's University (Collegeville) and a Master of Science in Applied Psychology from St. Cloud State University.  He is a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and owner of the Center for Family Counseling.  He is also a Catholic lifestyle coach and a regular guest on National Catholic Radio.

Debrief:  Nearly 70 men attended the January event, featuring Jim Ostremba.  After adoration and confession Father McCabe led the benediction.  Then Mr. Ostremba spoke about the importance of fathers and fatherhood in our everyday lives.  It was an inspiring talk!  Table discussion and a convivial meal followed.  Dave gave a few announcements and the event ended in a closing prayer.

​December Seminarian Event


Topic:  Serve and be a Witness to Family

​starting with Confession and Eucharistic Adoration, followed by a presentation by local seminarians from our Archdiocese!

Debrief:  45 hardy men attended this month's event!  The evening began with Eucharistic Adoration and Confession in the church.  We then moved to the Gathering Space.  After an invocation by Father Peter Richards, Vanguard leader Dave Ferry introduced our topic, "Serve in the Mass and Be a Witness to Family," as well as our featured speakers, fellow local seminarians Tyler Ferry and Andrew Zipp.  Tyler and Andrew gave their witnesss on the topic, and then we had our table discussions regarding what these young men had presented.  Dinner was served and was followed by a Q&A with the seminarians.  Dave gave a few announcements and the event was closed by prayer.

Oktoberfest Event
​starting with Confession and Eucharistic Adoration, followed by a presentation by Deacon Dupay with a selection of home brew from fellow parishioners!

Debrief:  Over 60 men answered the call for this month's event!  The evening began with Eucharistic Adoration and Confession in the church.  We then moved to the Gathering Space.  After an invocation by Father Peter Richards, Vanguard leader Pete Ruhland introduced our topic, "Encounter Jesus in Sacred Scripture," as well as our featured speaker, Deacon Steve Dupay.

A meal of pulled pork, beans, potato salad, and chips was accompanied by a selection of craft, homebrew and commercial beers.

Table discussion rounded out the evening, before a few final announcements by Pete and others, and encouragement to bring more men to the December event.

​The Importance of Prayer

Debrief:  Over 40 men answered the call for our inaugural meeting.  After an invocation by Father Peter Richards, Vanguard leader Dave Ferry introduced the Watchmen initiative and the reasons we need men to get involved.  

After a viewing of the Midnight Watch video, Vanguard member Bob Van Drasek gave a presentation about our Eucharistic Adoration chapel, the spiritual benefits of adoration and an appeal for men to sign up to adore during the difficult overnight hours.

Dave then showed the Into the Breach video before inviting the men to table discussions with questions.  This was followed by a meal of pulled pork sandwiches, beans, potato salad and chips.  Dave then ended the meeting by reminding those present of our Oktoberfest event in October, and a challenge to bring more men from our parishes into the Catholic Watchmen initiative.
